On the morning of October 29, 2022, on the 2nd floor of
the Sunwah building, the University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
(VNU) organized a seminar within the framework of the 2nd Vietnam Autumn Law
Forum "Principles of the Vietnamese Criminal Procedure Law: The process of
acclimatization and improvement”.
Overview of the Conference This seminar was attended by many reputable experts and scholars in the field of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tien Viet (Vice Rector) Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Chi; Dr. Le Lan Chi; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Van Do - Former Deputy Chief Justice of the People's Court; Prof. Dr. Vo Khanh Vinh - Former Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. Le Van Cam - Former Dean of the VNU School of Law; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Tat Vien - Former Standing member of the Central Judicial Reform Committee; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Duc Phuc - Dean of Law Faculty, People's Police Academy; … In addition, the seminar attracted the attention of more than 100 delegates attending in person at the Hall and via the Zoom platform.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Trinh Tien Viet delivered the opening speech of the Seminar. The Seminar is divided into 02 sessions, each session includes 04 presentations and is moderated by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Chi and Dr. Le Lan Chi. In the first session "Main principles of criminal procedure law in Vietnam: The process of acclimatization and improvement", experts presented 04 presentations: (1) Main principles of Vietnamese criminal procedure law and its evolution in the Doi Moi process (Prof. Dr. Dao Tri Uc); (2) The principles of the current Vietnamese criminal procedure law and orientations for further improvement (Dr. Prof. Le Cam); (3) The main principles of the criminal procedure law of Vietnam in the process of international integration (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Chi); (4) Principles and codification of Criminal procedure (Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan).
The next part of the seminar revolves around the content "Some basic principles of criminal procedure law in the context of judicial reform in Vietnam" with 04 presentations: Principles of people's participation in the trial of criminal cases according to the requirements of judicial reform (Assoc. Prof.Dr. Nguyen Tat Vien); The presumption of innocence principle - the basis of justice and human rights protection in criminal proceedings (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Do); The principle of compulsory prosecution in the socialist legal system and its expression in the criminal procedure law in Vietnam (Dr. Le Lan Chi); The right to be tried without unreasonable delay in international law and Vietnamese criminal procedure law (Dr. Le Huynh Tan Duy). At the end of the Seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Chi affirmed that the in-depth discussions in the Seminar will be absorbed, compiled, and published by the Organizing Committee to serve as training and research materials. He also deeply thanks the experts and scholars who spent their valuable time participating in and contributing to the success of the Seminar. |
