PGS.TS. Nguyễn Thị Quế Anh phát biểu Khai mạc Hội thảo pasting Speaking
at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Que Anh emphasized the promotion
of publicity, transparency and accountability being conducted by almost
countries in the world and had a great effect in preventing abuse of power,
bureaucracy and corruption as well as strengthening the effectiveness and efficiency
of national governance. In Vietnam, this issue is comprehensively and
specifically addressed not only in Anti-Corruption Law 2018 and legal documents
guiding the implementation of this Law, but also in many the Communist Party’s
documents and other legal documents of the State. However, the reality shows
that many issues in publicity, transparency and accountability in state governance
in Vietnam are needed to be improved to enhance national governance capacity. To
contribute to making scientific recommendations and proposals to complete the
legal framework, mechanisms, institutional systems and policies relating to
publicity, transparency and accountability in state governance and
anti-corruption in Vietnam, VNU-LS held an international scientific conference named
"Publicity, transparency and accountability in state governance and
anti-corruption in the world and in Vietnam”. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Que
Anh do hope that domestic and international experts from international
organizations or non-governmental organizations, managers, scientists from
agencies, training and research institutions will work together to discuss and
share experiences to improve and promote publicity, transparency and
accountability. Mr. Steve Taylor Representative
of the British Embassy to Hanoi, Mr. Steve Taylor experessed his pleasure to
attend the workshop and hoped that this workshop would provide perspective as
well as measures to fight against corruption, improve publicity and
accountability. In his opinion, fighting against corruption requires
"courage" and every individual also needs courage to root out
coruption. He also did hope that during the time of this seminar, experts and
researchers will discuss and share useful knowledge and experiences to work
together to improve good publicity, transparency and accountability for
prosperity of the country and happiness of the people. Dr. Roxana Bratu Ms. Catherine Phuong Mr Chris Levon

The conference was divided into 2 sessions with 10 presentations from international experts and speakers. The first session was held with the theme of international standards and experiences on publicity, transparency and accountability in state governance and anti-corruption and the second one with topics relating to publicity, transparency and accountability in state governance and anti-corruption in Vietnam. Publicity and transparency are considered as effective ways of anti-corruption in particular and important tools of state governance in general. In addition to learning from international experiences, implementation of publicity and transparency needs to be appropriate to Vietnamese context as a connecting bridge to the democratic society. The conference was expected to help experts and researchers have better views of publicity, transparency and accountability in state governance and anti-corruption to offer solutions to actualization in the future. |
